Biography

My name is Kelly Keruskin (Ms. K.) and I am the library media specialist for the Jefferson-Morgan Elementary School.  I am extremely proud to say that my entire primary and secondary educational career was realized here at Jefferson-Morgan with my graduation in 1986.  I received my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Duquesne University and my master’s degree in Library Science from Clarion University.

Goals

My goals as the JMES library media specialist are to:

  • instill the love of reading and learning in our students.
  • collaborate with teachers, administrators, and staff to develop and teach lessons that support the regular classroom curricula for grades Pre-K through 6.
  • collaborate with teachers, administrators , and staff to develop curricular content that integrates library media and technology skills.
  • maintain an awareness of professional trends and emerging technologies for classroom, colleague, and student use.
  • ensure that a full range of information resources are available to support and promote student learning.
  • evaluate, acquire, and promote information resources to meet the learning needs of our students.
  • create lifelong, twenty-first century learners.

Library Schedule

Students attend library classes one day per week and two times per week for one nine-week period each school year during which time, they are provided the opportunity to check out age-appropriate books that appeal to their interests and their educational needs.  Additionally, during each classroom session, students will participate in a lesson with a related activity/project designed to support/reinforce concepts presented in their regular classrooms.

Grading Policy

Each nine-week period, students will receive a grade of O, S, N, or U.  Grades are based on a student’s ability to:
